My IMATS Experience or a Paradise for Makeup Lovers.

Two years in a raw I happened to visit IMATS Los Angeles. For those who do not know what IMATS is, it is the biggest makeup show in the world. It is usually held in big cities like Los Angeles, New York, London etc. Many famous makeup brands are exhibited there, such as MAC, Makeup For Ever, Kat Von D ( by the way it was a first year they had their makeup booth in LA), Tarte, Sigma, Morphe Brushes and others. Usually the list of all exhibitors you can find on the official site of IMATS. For each city it is different. Since I have studied in a professional makeup school (to be specific Cinema Makeup School in Hollywood) I was subscribed to receive a free pro card for the show, which allowed me to visit special pro events available only for professionals.
From my previous year experience I knew that the best day to go shopping was a pro night on Friday. And I was right. Since it was a closed event, lines for specific vendors were way shorter than on Saturday and Sunday. I did my all shopping approximately in two hours and I shopped at Mac, Sigma, Nigel’s beauty, Kryolan and others. I also wanted to go to Dose of Colors and Morphe Brushes but even for Friday night lines there were ridiculous around 1-2 hours wait. In result I decided to skip both of them.
I have purchased a couple eye shadows and lipsticks from MAC, brush cleansing mat from Sigma, which happened to be very useful. It saves me so much time for cleaning my brushes. I have also picked face contouring foundation trio from Kryolan, eye shadows from Lorac, a couple liquid lipsticks from Violet Voss, and a liquid face highlighter from Becca. I have enjoyed all my purchases and I have also saved a good amount of money because everything was on sale around 30-40 per cent. I also wanted to buy a new highlighter set from Anastasia Beverly Hills, but it was not on sale plus I can order it from Sephora for the same money, no point to wait one hour in line.
On this my IMATS experience did not finish because I also happened to be there on Saturday and Sunday. I volunteered for CICI Fashion Brushes booth. The quality of their brushes is not worse the Morphe and prices are even cheaper, can u imagine that? This was a great experience for me as a makeup artist since I have met many interesting people there who work in the same industry. I have seen a couple of celebrity makeup artists and you-tubers, among them Anastasia from Anastasia Beverly Hills, Jeffrey Star, Eve Pearl and others.
Overall IMATS is a great experience not only for shopping but also for networking, meeting interesting people and seeing real masterpieces of makeup art, professional prosthetic makeup, body art and others. They also have cash prizes for those who participate in makeup competitions. If you love makeup and have an opportunity to visit IMATS, you should definitely do so because this is a real life experience.
